Curriculum Technical Facilitator - Media and Computing

Are you looking for a role supporting students and staff to realise their creative technical aspirations? We are moving to a purpose-built building to support our Film, Media, VFX, Animation, Games and Computing students. As part of this move, we are looking for someone with strong technical skills across these disciplines to ensure we maximise student potential.

Alongside our well specified computer rooms running industry appropriate software, we will have specialist capture spaces including, a virtual production stage, green screen, motion capture, TV studio, Edit and Grading suite, animation/photo studio and podcast room.

The person who undertakes this role will provide proactive technical support and have enthusiasm for the creative work undertaken.

About the role:

As a Curriculum Technical Facilitator, your responsibilities will include:

  • To support the effective operation and development of the specialist computing and media technology infrastructure across the creative departments at Westminster Kingsway College (all campuses).
  • To assist in the development of the specialist media and computing technology in line with industry and government recommendations.
  • To make recommendations to the management regarding key technology solutions and to participate with other technical staff across the group to ensure best practice is shared.
  • To maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies and industry practice, informing current and future curriculum planning, in line with industry workflow and practices.
  • To prepare for and participate in internal and external audits relating to Health & Safety ensuring that documentation and record-keeping processes are robust, structured, and audit compliant.
  • To liaise with the management teams to ensure planning and operation of the specialist resources are fit for purpose and effective.

About you:

  • Possess a Media or Computing qualification.
  • Proven experience as a Media and Computing Technician.
  • Experience and knowledge in Apple MacOS and Microsoft Windows Systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of lighting and sound techniques and materials.
