We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join our dedicated Payroll Team for a period of 10 months to cover maternity leave. In this role, you will provide a highly professional payroll service, ensuring all statutory, legislative, and contractual obligations are met with utmost accuracy. You will be pivotal in processing one weekly and three-monthly payrolls, along with all associated tasks and procedures.

This role offers part time hours of 24.75 hours per week and whilst this position will operate remotely, we may need you to be able to commute to our Chester or Bangor (Gwynedd) office for training purposes (business travel can be expensed in line with company policy).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficient Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payrolls for over 700 employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing of three monthly and one weekly payrolls.
  • Expense Claims Management: Assist in processing employee expense claims through the company's online Expenses system, adhering to a strict fortnightly payment cycle.
  • Compliance and Legislation: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all UK payroll legislation, ensuring full compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

About You:

We're looking for candidate who has significant experience of running Payroll across the UK. A Payroll qualification would be desirable. Due to the nature of this role you'll need to be MS office proficient and have demonstrable experience of working as Payroll Officer or in a similar role. The ability to act assertively to support a point of view whilst maintaining respect and healthy, positive working relationships is also essential.

Whilst the primary focus of the role is to ensure a smooth and efficient payroll run, it is expected that you'll also support with additional Payroll activities such as processing cost queries from the commercial team for employees allocated to

specific contract costs and monitoring the Payroll email inbox, resolving and responding to Payroll queries in a professional, timely manner.
