We are recruiting on behalf of a leading chemical manufacturing company dedicated to innovation, quality, and safety. They are committed to delivering high-performance products to a global market. We are currently seeking on their behalf a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to lead their laboratory team and ensure the highest standards in chemical analysis and quality control.

The role is open to experienced Laboratory Managers but also to Laboratory Supervisors looking for their next career move.

Role Overview:

As the Laboratory Manager, you will oversee all laboratory operations, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analytical data. You will be responsible for a team of QC Analysts who focus on method development, validation, and troubleshooting, with a focus on Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionization Detection (GC-FID) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Your leadership will drive continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including staffing, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Help to develop, validate, and optimise analytical methods, particularly using GC-FID and HPLC techniques.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of QC Analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and quality assurance teams to support product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyse and interpret complex data, providing accurate and timely reports to management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to laboratory instruments and methods.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for all testing needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing laboratory, with at least 2 years in a managerial role (can be at Supervisory or Managerial level).
  • Proven expertise in GC-FID and HPLC, including method development and validation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Chemical regulatory standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
