As Web Engineering Lead, you will be a proactive and seasoned professional with a broad technical background, poised to lead the development of complex, business-critical systems in an enterprise environment. In this role, you will design and buildUnite Students**`** web platform, integrating with core systems and third-party services to elevate our brand and customer experience. You will champion the adoption of appropriate technologies and frameworks, lead key projects, and foster continuous learning within your team.

What You`ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development of our web technologies, ensuring quality, resilience, and performance.
  • Foster a culture of empowerment and trust, encouraging innovation and ownership.
  • Collaborate closely with product teams, UX designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional solutions.
  • Own DevOps CI/CD pipelines integrating with third-party security and quality tools.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust systems across the cloud stack, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Work with third-party vendors and internal teams to resolve integration and infrastructure challenges.
  • Support teams across the development lifecycle, including testing, production, and release management.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues effectively to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Oversee application security, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Contribute to and promote best practices in coding, continuous integration, and delivery across the organisation.
  • Mentor and support junior developers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business users and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and mutual understanding.

What We`re Looking for in You

  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and delivering modern web applications in a commercial environment.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a strong emphasis on team empowerment, collaboration, and trust.
  • Proficiency in source control, continuous integration, and testing tools, with a commitment to quality and security.
  • Expertise in a range of technologies, including TypeScript, NextJS, Node, Express, RESTful services, GraphQL, ElasticSearch and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Contentfu preferred.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and an understanding of their importance in fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Experience owning and maintaining the cloud infrastructure which host your applications.
  • Strong ability to integrate front-end web technologies with business systems via API gateways.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a professional, service-oriented approach.
  • A passion for continuous learning, self-development, and mentoring others.
