Sheridan Maine is proud to represent a recognised Dorset-based organisation in their search for a dedicated and proactive Accountant. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Support & Advice: Work closely with heads of departments, providing comprehensive support and advice to ensure alignment with the wider issues and objectives of the organisation's Strategic Plan, enabling the achievement of targets.
  • Proactive Planning & Monitoring: Play an instrumental role in planning, forecasting, and monitoring performance against all relevant elements of the Strategic Plan.
  • Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare, monitor, and report on annual revenue and capital budgets, monthly management accounts, and payroll budgets for designated departments and professional service units. Track performance against other Key Performance Indicators.
  • Financial Advisory: Offer financial advice and support to internal stakeholders, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Business Partnering: Adopt a business partnering approach with designated departments, representing the wider finance team to understand business needs and identify requirements for new information.
  • Team Improvement Recommendations: Make recommendations for improvements to the team where appropriate, including enhancements to technology, processes, and team behaviours.
  • Shadowing & Mentorship: Shadow business partners as appropriate to enable better understanding of relevant business areas. Provide oversight, coach, and mentor other staff as appropriate.

The successful Accountant will require:

  • A full accountancy qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of financial management and strategic planning.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to provide high-quality financial advice and support to senior staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships.
  • A proactive, forward-thinking approach to financial planning and performance monitoring.
