Enterprise Risk Manager

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Manager reporting to the Head of Enterprise Risk to support and embed a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework within Thames Water. This is an integral role responsible for managing the implementation of enterprise risk management policies and processes across all business units.

What you will be doing as Enterprise Risk Manager

  • Establish effective lines of communication with internal key stakeholders/risk owners.
  • Work with the business in the Identification and assessment of operational risks.
  • Support the Head of Enterprise Risk Management in ensuring enterprise risk management reporting requirements, internally and externally, meet the UK Corporate Governance Code and other statutory obligations.
  • Support the enhancement of the risk management culture within Thames Water.
  • Provide support to ensure that risk management is an integral part of the decision making process and is closely linked to Thames Water business objectives and performance metrics.
  • Manage the risk registers and facilitate the identification, assessment and prioritisation of key risks with the business and assist in the escalation of any risk for inclusion within the Principle Risk dashboard.

What you should bring to the role?

Essential

  • Extensive relevant enterprise risk management experience supporting the implementation of effective risk management strategies and frameworks in an organisation.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of current risk management frameworks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, as well as excellent presentation skills.
  • Able to operate effectively in a flexible, agile, way in the context of changing priorities of the wider team and the business.
  • Experience working with senior teams to deliver risk reports and analysis and being a trusted advisor.
  • Provide subject matter expertise.
  • Experience of developing and delivering risk training.
  • Demonstrable experience developing collaborative working relationships, excellent interpersonal skills, able to influence, build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver quality deliverables to tight deadlines.
  • A strong sense of personal resilience and ability to remain focused on the bigger picture.
  • Comfortable with constructively challenging business leaders.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and adaptable.

Desirable

  • Experience in utility industry, regulated environment or FTSE250.
  • Recognised qualification in Risk Management (e.g. BA Risk Management, CertIRM) or working towards one.
