VAT Finance Specialist

Our client is a global FMCG and Technology organization.

Their diverse internet businesses require VAT filings in several jurisdictions Internationally. We are looking for an experienced VAT analyst to join our International VAT Controllership team to focus on assisting the controllership manager with the Business online store. VAT Controllership is a well-established team based primarily in the UK and US, which is responsible for VAT Controllership across the Rest of World (ROW) region within the international team as well as providing support to Tax colleagues and the wider business. The role will have EU VAT focus, including design and implementation of VAT controls, identification and mitigation of VAT risk, management of control quality, and identification and implementation of process improvements. The role will involve also participation in business projects and will therefore also require project management ability, understanding of cross functional workings, financial systems, and technical accounting awareness.

This will be a chance to expand skill set on a traditional VAT role. Bridges both VAT compliance and advice. Will be risk and compliance involved. Working directly with the business so similar to VAT manager in a business, including governance controls and compliance and allows you to grow as a VAT SME, similar to project management and lets you think about your skill set in a different way.

Top 3 must haves:

  • Ability to work independantly and confidently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Curiosity, not be afraid to ask questions, trust in your knowledge and push back and being able find other ways of pushing back if not heard the first time
  • 5+ years experience in VAT Finance and analytics
  • 5+ years experience in project based roles

A day in the life

Partnering closely with the VAT controllership manager to proactively partner tax advisory, VAT compliance and business teams to ensure good governance, controls and risk is mitigated.

This role will be based in Manchester, working on a hybrid basis - 3 days per week in the office.
