Field Service IT Engineer

This exciting job opportunity is a role where we are looking for a hard working individual with a can do attitude, responsible for the completion of hardware break-fix service calls, generic support requests and deployments for a wide variety of customers to manufacturer recommended standards using a multi-platform of products. You'll be part of a dedicated team of field engineers providing functional excellence and support as designated. Along with assisting at sites on tasks including but not exclusive to building, preparing, installing and configuring IT infrastructure when requested.

Salary £27.5K pa + company car or £4800.00 pa car allowance and fully expensed fuel card.

The location of the role is a field based job around Milton Keynes and surround areas. However, a very flexible approach to travel is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

To ensure internal and external customers' requirements are met to the required specification, quality and within agreed SLA's.

  • Extensive knowledge to investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve a wide variety of hardware problems within agreed client SLA's.
  • Assemble, configure and install all hardware platforms.
  • Perform builds, installations, configuring and set-ups of various forms of IT infrastructure hardware.

  • Installing, testing and terminating of network cables.
  • Update service order jobs real-time.
  • Escalate calls when necessary, providing full status updates to internal team and client.
  • Writing up support calls and maintain documents and records to a professional standard.
  • Attend technical training and certification programs as required.
  • Play a key role as part of an on-call out of hours programs as required.
  • Support MFD devices covering all aligned printer manufacturers.
  • Use change control process for installations, moves, additions and changes.
  • Check and respond to emails regularly through the business day.
  • Carry out any other ad hoc tasks reasonably required by management.
  • Provide support to the Operational Team when appropriate.

Skill Profile

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrate a proven working knowledge of printers, laptops, servers, routers and switches hardware.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting a multi-platform of technologies.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate previous experience in troubleshooting and installing network access points.
  • Excellent communicator on all levels.
  • Thorough, demonstrates attention to detail.
  • An adaptable and flexible approach to work and travel is essential.
  • Current clean British driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in supporting Storage area Networks (SAN) highly desirable.
  • Experience in supporting infrastructure, specifically Cisco routing and switching highly desirable (CCNA)
  • Experience/ accredited in working at height (3m) AP installations.
  • Imaging and deployment utilities (SSCM/Intune).
  • Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop.
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role or as a Field Engineer.
