Contracts Manager

My client is a multi disciplined global Engineering group who are experiencing a period of substantial growth.

As the Contracts Manager, you will have the responsibility for the planning, management and financial control on all assigned projects ensuring all stakeholders are involved, communicated with, ensuring progress is evaluated, changes are implemented, and reports submitted as per the project specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Accountability

  • Working as part of the project and management team to achieve the overall objectives of the business unit by driving high standards of safety, work and continuous improvement in process and quality of operations
  • Responsible for the P&L, budget, and commercial responsibility on all assigned projects. Developing and delivering project budgets in line with forecasts and expectations. including order intake, cash flow and cash collection
  • Ensure compliance with all Company Policies. Particular attention is drawn to the requirement to manage operational delivery in accordance with the Companies Safety Rules
  • Management of Supervisors/Electricians responsible for project delivery, ensuring all company processes and procedures adhered to, achieving right first-time results and positive customer satisfaction
  • Understanding contracts to read, interpret and implement appropriate controls utilising support from Senior Management and Commercial team as required. Define the project scope and objectives, ensuring technical feasibility and resource allocation
  • Seeking out and developing new and existing business opportunities, generating quotations, and delivering opportunities to tender
  • Take a lead role in all HR activities within the profit centre(s), coaching and developing and workforce ensuring quality, health and safety standards are maintained in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Minimum HNC in electrical engineering
  • 5 years' experience with industrial electrical projects including in a marine environment
  • 5 years' commercial knowledge, including contract terms and conditions, budgets and cost control and excellent negotiation skills/experience
  • Demonstrable track record in Project & Commercial Management supported by relevant qualifications (APM / PMQ/ PRINCE 2 etc.)
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a passion and interest in serving customers and exceeding expectations
  • Interpersonal skills at all organisational levels, with the ability to motivate people and engender a culture of team working to achieve the aims of the business
