SQL Developer

Job Title: SQL Developer
Key Responsibilities

  • Data Migration:

o Design, develop, and implement SQL scripts as part of the project data migration processes.
o Cleanse, transform, and load data from the legacy, on-premise housing system (Capita Open Housing) into the on-premise, NEC Housing System that is being implemented.
o Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the migration process.

  • Data Analysis:

o Analyse data from various sources to identify and resolve data quality issues.
o Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
o Develop and maintain data validation and cleansing scripts.

  • SQL Development:

o Write SQL queries to extract, cleanse, manipulate, and transform data.
o Develop SQL scripts. stored procedures, functions, and triggers as needed.
o Optimize SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
o Mask sensitive data as necessary
o Become familiar with the clients data and the entity relationships (schema) of the underlying database

  • Collaboration:

o Work closely with the project team, including business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders, to understand data requirements.
o Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to the team and client.
o Participate in project meetings and provide updates on data migration activities.
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Technical Skills:

o Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL and experienced with relational database management systems (RDBMS).
o Oracle and Progress RDBMS
o Experience with data migration projects, particularly involving large datasets.
o Strong data analysis and data cleansing skills.
o Knowledge of NEC Housing System and its data structures.
o Knowledge of Capita Open Housing (the legacy system) and its data structures.
o Deduplication of data.
o Creating data cleansing scripts.
o Reconciliation of data sets
o Unit testing
o Source Control and Version Control

  • Social Housing Experience:

o Understanding of social housing operations, business processes, and data requirements.
o Experience working with social housing data.

  • Analytical Skills:

o Ability to analyse complex data sets and identify patterns, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
o Experience creating detailed data analysis reports and documentation.

  • Soft Skills:

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
o Ability to work independently and manage own tasks and targets
o Work collaboratively as part of a remote team.
o Flexibility and adaptability to changing project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Local Authorities or public sector clients.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration methodologies.
  • Certification in SQL and PL/SQL development.

Additional Information

  • Travel: This role requires occasional travel to the client site in Wiltshire (1 day per month).
  • Remote Work: Primarily a work-from-home position.
  • Contract Type: Full-time, Contract (6 months initial contract duration).
