Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading and global FMCG group within an interesting sector to recruit a dynamic and experienced part-time Assistant Accountant/Accountant based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire for a 12-month fixed term contract. Offering 25 hours per week, with remote/office hybrid working, the position will support Senior Accountants within the team with the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements for both the UK and EU entities within the Group. Open to finance professionals who are part-qualified/qualified along with qualified by experience, from industry or accountancy practice.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for group and statutory reporting purposes, preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with identifying risk and control improvement opportunities. You will perform monthly closing activities, validation/approval of master data changes, support year-end audit and interim reviews, providing accurate analysis to identify opportunities for the business and senior management. You will raise billing and payments requests when required, be involved in projects around process improvement of accounting controls and provide support to Senior Accountants within the team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this part-time Assistant Accountant/Accountant role, you will need experience within a similar position, highly motivated to understand how systems and processes work, while not being afraid to bring innovation and change. The ability to focus on detail/accuracy while understanding the bigger picture, with strong communication skills to build relationships at all levels. Strong MS Excel skills and used to working in a fast-paced environment. You will be capable of working autonomously, but also work well within a team-based environment. You will be part-qualified/qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience. Experience with SAP, working within global organisations, financial accounting processes, and additional language skills in Dutch, German, French, Spanish or Italian would be advantageous but not essential.

This 12-month fixed term contract offers a salary of £35,000 - £42,000 per annum pro rata over 25 hours per week, based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire.
