As part of a major company restructure, we are creating a new role to drive excellence across our operations. This is a unique opportunity to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in turning around the performance of our business.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering & Infrastructure Director to oversee and manage key areas of our business. This newly created position will have responsibility for our fleet, contracts, estates, and the Project Management Office (PMO). The successful candidate will be instrumental in improving operational performance, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our services, and contributing to the long-term success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance, availability, and performance of our train fleet, ensuring high standards of safety and reliability.
  • Contracts: Manage and optimize key supplier and service contracts to ensure value for money and performance against agreed standards.
  • Estates Management: Lead the management of our physical assets, including stations, depots, and other infrastructure, ensuring they are well-maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Project Management Office (PMO): Drive the delivery of critical projects within the business, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

What We're Looking For:

  • Ideally, a Chartered Engineer with proven experience in a senior operational role, preferably within the transportation or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing large-scale contracts, complex estates, and high-value projects.
  • A track record of turning around underperforming operations and driving business improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
