Retrofit Engagement Officer

An exceptional opportunity to join Forest of Dean District Council as a Retrofit Officer, playing a pivotal role in providing high quality advice to promote and enhance sustainable outcomes, through retrofit projects. As a Retrofit Officer, you will be working with the heart of local communities, to provide transparent, high quality, valuable guidance, surrounding retrofit programmes. From carbon foot-printing, building energy performance to renewable energy options, you will be integral to raising awareness, empowering change, to create sustainable outcomes, in line with our environmental aspirations.

Due to the nature of the role, you will need the ability to engage, inform and influence retrofit transformation, across different audiences, with varying levels of knowledge or initial interest. You will be experienced in delivering workshops and events, as well as creating supporting content that effectively targets and attracts varied audiences.

You will be working collaboratively, with a variety of different partners and stakeholders across the district, including both Cheltenham Borough and Cotswold District Council. These two councils will each have similar officers, joining us in a South West Net Zero Hub-backed Gloucestershire retrofit engagement programme. You will also play a crucial part in delivering the Council's Climate Emergency Strategy, by promoting engagement programmes that stimulates uptake of domestic building retrofit projects that bring down emissions.

You will need

  • Project management and or programme management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the efficient use of energy in buildings, particularly within the domestic sector.
  • Experience in community and/or citizen engagement, outreach or related roles, this can include voluntary work.
  • Ability to plan, execute and attend community events and workshops across the district.
  • Experience of content creation for engagement materials.
