Elevation Recruitment Group are searching for Buyers to join a Retailer based in Barnsley. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing a variety of discounted goods, including soft drinks, confectionery, and ambient products. This role demands a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers. As a Buyer you will play a crucial role in ensuring that product offerings are of high quality and competitively priced, contributing to the overall success and growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to make informed purchasing decisions
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure consistent product availability
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer preferences and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly
- Conduct regular assessments of stock levels and manage inventory to meet customer demand without overstocking
- Ensure all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, including cost analyses and supplier performance
- Stay updated with industry trends and new products to keep our offerings fresh and competitive
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar purchasing role in the wholesale or retail industry
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships
- Knowledge of market research and cost analysis
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
