Lunchtime Supervisor
Location: North Chesterfield School
Contract: Part-Time, Term Time Only (11:30am - 2:30pm) 15 hours per week
Setting: Specialist Primary School for Children with Emotional, Social, and Mental Health Needs (Key Stage 1 & 2)

We are seeking a compassionate and patient Lunchtime Supervisor to join our specialist primary setting in North Chesterfield. Our school supports children and young people who are not currently in mainstream education due to emotional, social, and mental health issues. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children during their lunchtime break both inside the school building, in the dinner hall, and outdoors (weather permitting).
  • Ensure a safe, calm, and positive environment for all pupils during the lunchtime period.
  • Encourage and support children to engage in appropriate play and social interactions.
  • Handle situations involving emotional and social difficulties in a supportive and constructive manner.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to manage and de-escalate any challenging behaviours, maintaining a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties is highly desirable.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations, using effective behaviour management strategies.
  • A caring, empathetic, and patient nature with the ability to engage and connect with children.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday during term time, from 11:30am to 2:30pm-ideal for individuals balancing school drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • Commitment to the safety and well-being of all pupils, ensuring supervision aligns with the school's policies and procedures.

Safeguarding:

This role is subject to vetting in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, including thorough reference checks and an enhanced child workforce DBS check.

Start Date:

This role is to start as soon as possible.
