Salary: Up to £65,738 per annum depending on skills and experience

Senior Technician - Equipment Technology – The Role:

A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Technician working within Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role will be responsible for advising the port on all technical aspects of Equipment Control Technology including electrical/ electronic and mechanical understanding whilst also understanding the long-term strategies within the department. Whilst planning and managing the engineering activities and projects within Hutchison Ports UK (HPUK).

Senior Technician - Equipment Technology – Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the department in developing and implementing the overall strategic engineering plan whilst working collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver the HPUK business strategic objectives
  • Ensuring container handling plant is correctly specified, maintained, upgraded as necessary by the implementation of relevant projects to ensure the highest standards of equipment safety, availability, reliability and obsolescence
  • Develop a full understanding of current safety regulations concerning machine safety and apply and demonstrate compliance of equipment under their responsibility
  • Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures, standard operating practices, with recommendations for action and continuous improvement
  • Co-ordinate, manage and contribute to capital expenditure projects as directed and specified ensuring projects are completed in relevant timescales involving all key stakeholders and within budgeted cost limits

Senior Technician - Equipment Technology – You:

  • HND in Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Full UK Driver's license
  • Management/ Supervisory of staff experience
  • Able to diagnose complex faults from sometime limited data and history. Making decisions on whether equipment is safe to operate
