Position: School Design Technology (DT) Technician

Salary: £160 - £175

Are you a skilled tradesperson with a passion for creativity and education? We are seeking an enthusiastic School Design Technology Technician to join a dynamic secondary school in Southwark this September.

School Design Technology Technician - About the Role

As a School Design Technology Technician,you will support the Art and DT departments, ensuring students and staff have the resources, equipment, and safe environment needed for inspiring practical lessons.

Essential Attributes

  • Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience as a tradesperson in an industrial skills sector (e.g. construction, carpentry, upholstery, painter/decorator, product/set designer, etc.)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Good speaking and listening skills

  • Consistent with accuracy and precision

  • Professional Competence:

  • Knowledge of BSS and DATA risk assessments used in DT

  • Ability to use ICT effectively

  • Ability to motivate students at all levels

  • Personal Qualities:

  • Effective team worker

  • Efficient and punctual

  • Resilient, motivated, and committed to high standards

  • A positive role model for staff and students

Desirable Attributes

  • Specific skill training in a specialism supporting Art and DT curriculum delivery
  • Graduate-level degree in a related subject or equivalent
  • CAD and CAM skills
  • Experience with industrial machines (lathe, milling, router)
  • Industrial experience or practice
  • Experience organising exhibitions, displays, or functions
  • School-based experience at KS3 and KS4
  • Willingness to engage in extra-curricular activities and run enrichment clubs
  • Innovative, imaginative, and flexible approach
  • Enjoys going on trips and supporting wider school life
