Pastoral Support Assistant

  • Job Type: Full-time (Temporary until the end of the academic year)
  • Working Hours: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday (until 4:30 PM on Wednesday)

LTA / Reed Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join a primary school based in the Preston area. This role involves working directly in the classroom, supporting children with pastoral needs, participating in intervention and friendship groups, and contributing to activities in the hub. This position is crucial for fostering a nurturing and supportive environment that addresses the social and emotional development of the children.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide support to children within the classroom setting, focusing on those with identified pastoral needs.
  • Facilitate and participate in intervention groups and friendship circles to promote positive relationships and social skills among children.
  • Work within the hub to assist in the development and implementation of pastoral strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the pastoral team to identify students who require additional support and to tailor interventions accordingly.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of children, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive school environment that encourages respect and understanding among all children.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a support role within an educational setting, particularly with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of children requiring pastoral support.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to student welfare.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
