Financial Controller

This privately owned and extremely profitable e-commerce business has experienced phenomenal growth and is now looking for a talented Financial Controller to support further expansion in their UK and international markets. They operate from a small head office, consisting of marketing, procurement and finance, with close collaboration from the Directors and shareholders.

The business has achieved impressive year on year growth with manufacturing and distribution fulfilled by third parties and managed centrally from the UK. They process a high volume of transactions utilising e-commerce software and Xero, this generates large amounts of data around buying patterns, product margins, stock availability and procurement / supply chain. A key requirement of this Financial Controller role will be to analyse and report this information to support decision making and strategic insight. The main responsibilities of this position will be:

  • Maintaining a robust finance function in a high growth business
  • Providing a suite of monthly MI for the management team
  • Developing KPIs and driving process improvement
  • Management of two accounts / transactional staff
  • Balance sheet management, control and reconciliations
  • Month end close and management accounts production
  • Production of statutory accounts and running the audit
  • Developing the stock and planning system
  • Rebate management and reconciliation
  • VAT returns, payroll and HMRC matters
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
  • Financial modelling of new opportunities / product launches

A significant part of this role will be providing financial support to the rollout of an ambitious 5 year business plan for the UK and new overseas territories. Previous experience of a finance role in a growing international business would therefore be considered favourably, along with track record showing the tenacity to deal with challenges, create solutions and take responsibility for the financial stewardship of a company undergoing rapid change.
Suitable applicants must be CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified with previous experience at Financial Controller level or similar and strong business / commercial awareness. This role will involve working closely with the MD and a tight knit team, you must therefore be a credible and confident communicator able to lead, develop and inspire the people around you.
