Risk Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Risk Manager to join our clients team. This specialist technical role will work closely with the CRO and Head of Risk to continue to develop and enhance their Risk Management and Risk Appetite Frameworks. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of current risk management techniques and standards, with the ability to provide innovative solutions that support the business and risk function.

Key Responsibilities of the Risk Manager

  • Framework Development: Lead the annual review and update of the Risk Management and Risk Appetite Frameworks, ensuring they remain effective, proportionate, and aligned with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • RCSA and Controls Assessment: Lead the annual risk control and self-assessment (RCSA) process, providing comprehensive reports to the Executive Committee (Exco) and Board. Support risk owners in the 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) throughout the process.
  • Risk Analysis and Metrics: Develop key metrics, including key risk indicators (KRIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyse risk data to provide insights and recommendations, meeting regularly with business units to review and challenge collected data.
  • Incident Management: Act as a point of contact within the 2nd Line of Defense (2LOD), supporting and challenging the 1LOD through incident management and lessons learned activities.
  • Risk Reporting: Lead the analysis and delivery of risk management information (MI) reports for the Executive Committee, reporting against principal risks. Enable informed strategic decision-making by assessing the risk profile.
  • Governance Review: Ensure governance arrangements are clear, transparent, and effective, with a structured approach to risk management.
  • Risk Training: Provide risk training to 1LOD teams, promoting and embedding a risk-aware culture across the organization. Measure and evidence the embedding of the risk culture within each entity.
  • Reasonable Steps Framework: Ensure delivery of any delegated responsibilities as detailed within the Reasonable Steps Framework.

Qualifications and Experience required of the Risk Manager

  • Experience: Extensive experience in risk standards, policies, and regulations within a consumer financial services business.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of current risk management techniques and standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to undertake risk-based analysis and make strategic recommendations.
  • Governance Expertise: Experience with risk governance and managing governance body commitments.

As the Risk Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping the risk management practices and supporting the resilience and effectiveness of the business operations.

This role offers hybrid working and you will need to be able to commute to West Malling 2 days per week.
