The Enterprise Database Administrator (SQL DBA) will play a crucial role in supporting a 24/7 manufacturing and office environment for a globally recognised household name. As the SQL DBA (Enterprise Database Administrator), you will deliver a reliable database administration service, ensuring the integrity and availability of all IT systems.

This SQL DBA will operate on ahybrid basis working from home 2-3 days a week and in the office in East Cheshire.

As theEnterprise Database Administrator (SQL DBA) you will oversee the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of the critical SQL Server systems. You will also get the chance to explore and implement newer, alternative database systems. You will be ensuring the availability and consistent performance of the production applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage SQL Server databases across all product lifecycle stages.
  • Implement and maintain alternative database systems for business transformation.
  • Configure and maintain database servers, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Use data modelling techniques to support development and integration efforts.
  • Analyse and resolve issues in real-time, providing end-to-end solutions.
  • Automate processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support after-hours release deployments.
  • Adhere to strict cybersecurity requirements.
  • Share expertise, providing mentorship and cross-training to team members.

To be considered you will have:

  • Extensive MS SQL Server Administration experience: MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications are a plus.
  • Expertise in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) with native tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models (VEEAM advantageous).
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) for SQL Server.
  • Experience as a SQL DBA (Enterprise Database Administrator) in a large environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows server environments.
