CAD Technician

The Role

As a CAD Technician, you will be responsible for creating precise and detailed project drawings, 3D models, and other intelligent design outputs. Your work will adhere to project timelines and agreed estimates, ensuring clarity and accuracy. By applying your growing knowledge and experience, you will play a key role in the efficient and effective delivery of projects, supporting the broader UU design team and contributing to our ambitious goals for the North West

You will be joining UU at a pivotal moment offering a unique chance to be at the forefront of our transformation. As we shift towards a more self-reliant design approach, your role will be crucial in steering the strategies that will fortify this transition. Your insights will directly contribute to our operational excellence, ensuring alignment with our strategic vision. This role not only offers a comprehensive view of our operations but also the opportunity to forge pivotal relationships and provide guidance that will shape the future of our Capital Delivery Programmes. Your expertise will be instrumental in our journey towards achieving UU's ambitious objectives.

We are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance through our flexible, hybrid working model. While you will have the option to work remotely, you will be expected to spend at least three days per week at our Lingley Mere site in Warrington, ensuring valuable face-to-face collaboration with your team. Additionally, some travel to other sites across the North West will be required. During the initial phase, more frequent site visits may be necessary to help you get acquainted with the team and your new role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for producing CAD drawings and models on time, within budget, and in compliance with UU CAD standards.
  • Contribute to the performance of the UU CAD team and escalate delivery issues to the CAD Manager.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal clients, discipline engineers, and the information management team.
  • Aid Development of UU's Engineering CAD standards and procedures, and ensure training and development requirements are met.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant engineering qualification or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of providing technical advice and contributing to the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
  • Developing level of technical knowledge of CAD systems and technologies; in particular BIM, 3D Modelling, and intelligent P&ID systems.
