Data Analyst Apprentice

Founded in 2013, Funky Chunky Furniture creates handmade chunky wood furniture from its workshop in the North East of England.
Our emphasis is on creating furniture for real life. Solid pine and oak pieces that have been handmade by real people and designed to last a lifetime.
Our designers create furniture for living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms, as well as floating shelves and mantels.

All our furniture and shelving are made using only the best selection of solid pine and oak timber. Each timber beam is chosen and cut to size by our expert craftsman before they use it to create our rustic furniture and shelves.

Overview:
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.
The Apprentice will be working alongside all departments, internally and externally, to assist in their smooth operations and provide insights where necessary.

The ideal candidate will be keen to learn and provide valuable input into future projects and the overall growth of the company.

Duties include:

  • Report building with Power BI
  • Querying data using SQL
  • Gathering and inputting data in Excel files
  • Maintaining data files for system imports
  • Liaising with external IT management company

As well as working with systems such as:

  • Order and inventory management
  • Website
  • Customer feedback requests

The successful candidate will join as part of our team for the long term, beyond the duration of the apprenticeship.

Over time, and with more experience and skills, more advanced duties may be possible, such as:

  • Advanced reporting in Power BI
  • Machine learning
  • Database management

Desirable skills:
All skills relating to the responsibilities above will be taught on the job and throughout the course of the apprenticeship, however as a minimum we would expect:

  • General IT literacy
  • Experience with using Excel (in particular pivot tables and XLookup) and Microsoft products
  • A basic understanding of data

  • A passion for data and analytics and their role in driving business success
  • Analytically minded with exceptional problem-solving abilities, viewing challenges as opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Reliable and determined, with a strong work ethic and thorough attention to detail
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt style to suit different audiences and situations
  • An eagerness to learn, expand knowledge and develop skills to build a successful career in the digital space

Entry requirements:
Standard entry:

  • Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship/A-levels/BTEC, etc)
  • OR equivalent work experience (typically two years in a relevant role)

Plus:

  • 5 GCSE's, including English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above
  • Experience with using Excel and Microsoft products (or similar)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:
£24,960 per annum.

Future prospects:
Upon successful completion, progression could include progression onto further courses with topics such as data engineering or data science.
