Aspiring Occupational Therapist - Psych grads!!!

A phenomenal, purpose built school in Swindon want to welcome an Aspiring Occupational Therapist to support their students aged 5-16. The pupils at the specialist school have a range of learning difficulties as well having as social, emotional and mental health needs. For an Aspiring Occupational Therapist, this is an amazing opportunity to work closely with the school's array of professionals on site. Collaborating with other therapists, psychologists and safeguarding professionals will give the Aspiring Occupational Therapist a chance to get their 'foot in the door'. Taking on this supporting role will open your eyes to what career routes you can follow such as Educational Psychology, Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy.

The Role's Responsibilities:

  • Behavioural and pastoral support
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 1-1 support of students
  • Making sure students feel secure and empowered
  • Assist class teachers to provide enhanced learning experience for students

The students attending the school encounter challenges regarding family relationships, low educational attainment, marginalisation and disadvantage. This means they are more 'at risk' of negative outcomes. As an Aspiring Occupational Therapist, you will see how crucial your role is in ensuring children feel safe and secure. Facilitating a supportive community is important to keep students on track and motivated to succeed in life.
