Contract: Temp-to-Perm

Grade/Salary: MPS/UPS – up to £46,525 + SEN £2,539 + TLR2b £5,637

Location: Birmingham

Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Head of Music to work in Birmingham. Many of the young people have complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period prior to joining the school.

Job Requirements of this Head of Music role:

  • Leadership: Ability to provide strong leadership to ensure teaching and learning are consistently good or better.
  • Progress Monitoring: Ensure all young people make outstanding progress and meet ambitious performance targets across all Key Stages.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop an innovative and progressive curriculum supported by extracurricular and enrichment activities.
  • Performance Management: Robustly manage performance of teachers and support staff, ensuring a clear link between pay and progression.
  • Teaching: Teach and act as a Key Worker to designated young people, ensuring teaching is differentiated to meet specific needs.
  • Examinations and Assessments: Prepare young people for public examinations and end-of-Key-Stage assessments, and monitor and report on progress.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently manage physical and financial resources, ensuring health and safety, and the effective use of financial resources to improve student outcomes.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication within the academy and with parents, other academies, and relevant agencies.
  • Professional Development: Participate in personal professional development and staff training, ensuring all staff understand and implement relevant policies.
  • Safeguarding: Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
  • Inclusive Practice: Support and promote diversity, equality of opportunity, and inclusive practice.

Other Responsibilities

  • Teach Personal Development and be flexible to work across all academy settings as needed.
  • Abide by all academy policies and procedures, including health and safety and data protection.
  • Support the vision and aims of the academy and set an example of personal integrity and professionalism.
