The finance team based in Edinburgh is a welcoming and relatively small, looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant.
Overview:
- Position: Accounts Assistant
- Location: city centre of Edinburgh, Scotland
- Salary: hourly rate, equivalent to £26,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Job type: 3-month fixed term contract initially, potential to go perm after
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Process invoices, expense claims, and payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Support in maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support to the finance department as needed.
- Report to Financial Controller.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to take initiative and hit the ground running.
On offer:
- Hourly pay, equivalent to £26,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid work, 2-3 days a week in the office
- Supportive team & direct reporting to Financial Controller
- 3 months fixed term initially, expected to go permanent for the right person & fit.
