We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile utilities clients based in Warwick. They are currently looking for x2 Estimators to join them for a 12-month contract. This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the Warwick office approximately twice a week.

Job Purpose:

To be responsible for all aspects of the cost estimating & risk registers for all capital works requested of them by the business, as well as: all relevant interfaces with internal and external stakeholders, regular reporting on the progress of the cost estimate and regular reporting on their performance to the Cost, Estimating & risk manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Use all approved estimating techniques (such as top -down, bottom -up, scaling, parametric...etc.) as appropriate to the level of detail required.
  • Proactively participate in the scheme team and prepare estimates including risk & contingency allowance. Produce quality estimates of proposed projects at all stages of development from business needs case to award of construction contracts
  • Work in a collaborative manner with project development, construction, design, and investment teams to develop the best value project solution to meet the business need, challenge solutions where appropriate, liaise with commercial, procurement and other parts of the company, to obtain the information required.
  • Support the Delivery Units during the tender phase with cost breakdowns and clarifying assumptions providing information and participating in tender negotiations
  • Maintain and update the estimating and unit cost database to reflect current costs, including extracting actual cost data from completed projects and carry out appropriate analysis.
  • Provide cost data on current, past and planned projects to support the companies' communications with the Regulator to justify funding requests.
  • Comply with all processes and procedures to ensure high performance delivery of services to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report on the progress of the cost estimate when required to the appropriate manager.
  • Provide cost substantiation, internal and external benchmarking against industry standards and similar project from the wider construction industry

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Proficient in cost estimating for infrastructure projects in the UK
  • Proficient in project construction and budget management experience
  • Proficient communicator and influencer
  • Proficient in planning and organising skills including effective prioritisation and time management

Key Interfaces:

  • External marketplace - to identify current prices with suppliers
  • Project investment engineers - to support the scheme team process
  • Delivery Units - to support any cost estimation assumptions during tender phase
  • Procurement team during tendering process.
  • Cost, estimating and risk manager.
