Mortgage Completions Underwriter

We are an award winning and growing financial services organisation specialising in the high net worth buy to let sector. Due to our continued expansion, an opportunity has arisen to work as a Mortgage Completions Underwriter within our wider completions and underwriting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join the business who is wanting a mortgage based career. The role would suit candidates with either previous mortgage related work experience or those currently working in a related property sector such as estate agency lettings with a good understanding of the technical and legal aspects such of tenancy agreements, leases, lease extensions, ground rent, who are now seeking the next step in their career and to progress themselves within a specialised and successful mortgage organisation.

The opportunity is based in Fleet and you would be working the hours of 9am – 5pm, offering an extensive benefits package with a salary range from £33 to £38k depending on experience plus discretionary annual bonus. You will be working alongside a team of underwriters and report directly into one of our Completions Operations Manager. The job role in summary will be to offer professional and accurate support for the administration of our Buy to Let mortgage applications after the mortgage offer has been issued, facilitating a swift and smooth completion of the loan for our customers by providing a professional, efficient and high standard of customer service and administrative support to customers, intermediaries, valuers and solicitors.

The role will involve:

  • Work to agreed objectives, service standards and deliverables.
  • Ensure relevant documentation and information received is checked for adherence to policy and criteria.
  • Deal with queries and enquiries effectively, accurately, and professionally, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Provide a prompt reply to all written correspondence.
  • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Make suggestions for improvements to processes to enhance service and efficiency.
  • Adhere to internal/external compliance, credit review and audit requirements.
  • Apply all aspects of the desired consumer outcomes of Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF).
  • Use initiative to resolve queries outside own area of expertise.
  • Train and mentor new team members.
  • Take responsibility for your own learning and development.
  • All other associated duties and responsibilities and carry out any tasks as required by management

To be successful for the Mortgage Completions Underwriter, you must have previous customer and administration experience ideally within a mortgage related role or from a more generalist property background dealing with the technical and legal aspects such as tenancy agreements, leases, lease extensions, ground rent etc and be seeking the next step in your career. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are essential along with strong PC skills and a professional approach.
