Job Title: Attendance and Welfare Officer
Salary: £24,496 - £26,845 (FTE)
Location: Greater Manchester

A school in Greater Manchester is seeking a dedicated Attendance and Welfare Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving student attendance and punctuality, implementing the school's attendance strategy, and working closely with families, staff, and external agencies.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive improvement in student attendance to meet school targets.
  • Collaborate with pastoral teams and school leaders to enhance attendance, behavior, and attainment.
  • Attend meetings with parents, local authorities, and multi-agency groups to support student welfare.
  • Manage attendance-related processes, including students leaving the school, leave of absence requests, and Children Missing Education (CME) procedures.
  • Analyze daily attendance data, identify concerns, and take appropriate action.
  • Conduct home visits to support families in improving student attendance and explain the link between absence and academic performance.
  • Advise families on the legal implications of persistent absenteeism and implement sanctions where necessary.
  • Develop and implement reintegration plans for students returning to school after extended absences.
  • Provide regular attendance reports to key stakeholders and support the school's attendance panels.

**Key Performance Indicators:

  • Ensure attendance levels exceed national averages and reduce persistent absenteeism.
  • Reduce lateness and implement the school's attendance strategy effectively.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation and policies on attendance.

**The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A commitment to improving attendance and supporting student welfare.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and analyze data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to build relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Experience working in a similar role within an education setting is advantageous but not essential.

  • This role may involve occasional off-site work and working outside normal office hours to support school events.
