Reed FE are seeking a dedicated Careers Advisor to join a leading specialist college. This role is integral to providing independent careers advice to post 16 learners, ensuring they are well-informed to make future decisions. The successful candidate will join a brilliant information, advice, and guidance team, supporting activities that contribute to high-quality advice and support for their learners.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Manage the provision of careers and labour market information.
  • Maintain the careers section of the college's website.
  • Liaise with tutors to identify learners needing guidance.
  • Deliver a structured careers offer, ensuring comprehensive support for all learners.
  • Provide impartial information, advice, and guidance to individuals and groups on progression planning.
  • Assist learners with action planning post-careers interview.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Managers, colleagues, and the Well-being and Transition Officer to develop careers-related activities.
  • Conduct learner interviews, record sessions, and advice on learner action plans.
  • Support learners in creating action plans for employment, education, and training.
  • Stay informed on labour market trends to offer accurate career guidance.
  • Maintain an online Careers Library and resources.
  • Contribute to the college's intended destinations data and Quality in Careers Standard Award.
  • Organise careers-related activities, including university and college visits, and engagements with employers and apprenticeship providers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 6 Qualification in CEIAG, registered with CDI.
  • Adherence to the Code of Ethics for Careers Guidance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Further Education systems and careers education and guidance practices.
  • Familiarity with Quality Awards for Careers.
  • Understanding of the curriculum and the needs of learners aged 16-25 with SEND.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with learners, staff, and parents.
  • Proficiency in IT and its application in careers and higher education guidance.
  • Organisational skills, flexibility, and reliability.
