1st Line Support Engineer

A well-known college based across three campus sites are seeking to hire x2 Support Engineers to join their established team on a permanent basis.

These roles are both exactly the same as each other but require two candidates who are keen to learn and get their support career off to a flying start.

Purpose of role:

To deliver day to day IT Business as Usual (BAU) support services, also, to support the Senior Support Technicians in improving the college IT support services. The role of the Support Technician is to provide first and second line support for all staff and students at the college. A Support Technician is responsible for logging and resolving complex support requests with computer hardware, software, and network systems, as well as meeting customer satisfaction and continuous service delivery demands.

Must have skills:

  • Provide 1st line support.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems (Windows and Mac) and across core business applications.
  • Assist all users with any logged IT related incident when called upon working to resolve service requests within agreed SLA.
  • Analyse and identify repeated incidents and raise as a Problem record, then work to resolve the Problem.
  • Accurately record, update and document service requests, problems and change requests using the ITSM system.
  • Script and deploy patches to Windows, Mac and Android devices to ensure compliance targets are met.
  • Present change requests to Technical Change Board as required.
  • Ensure all service requests are assigned and updated in a timely manner.

Ideally you will have some experience with InTune though this is not essential with an understanding of ITIL.

This role will require you to be on site 5 days per week and for you to travel to the 3 sites where need be which are 20 minutes away from each other. There is free parking if you drive but you must be able to be on site 5 days per week.
The role also offers great benefits such as 26 days annual leave plus a further 10 days leave over Christmas closure, one Friday every 2 weeks working from home plus the opportunity to learn and be given free formal training on qualifications such as ITIL.
The role may also begin as a temporary position and move to being a permanent role depending on preference.
