Head of Production

Main Purpose

  • To lead the operations within Production ensuring that customer orders are produced and despatched to defined quality standards and timelines.
  • This includes overall management of Scheduling, Blending, Production Lines. The role holder will lead on the Production Improvement Initiative to ensure.
  • Production operates at the required capacity to deliver Orthene's business strategy.

Accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Production Transformation Lead the Production Improvement Initiative to ensure that Production is able to deliver against the business growth targets sustainably and efficiently.
  • Production Management
  • Manage the production operations in an efficient and a cohesive manner within staffing limits.
  • Ensure production runs are carried out according to the customer's requirements including co-ordination with scheduling and planning.
  • Ensure the production process is optimised to deliver minimal changes to plan or downtime.
  • Build effective working relationships with other departments within the business to ensure Production delivers against business requirements.
  • Produce, use and report on Production KPIs to help improve performance and inform the Director and the wider Leadership.
  • Lead productivity, quality and safety programmes and demonstrate appropriate behaviours for a safe operation.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and improved
  • Ensure all procedures, work instructions, etc. are adhered to, including the completion of all required documentation, Upholding the Criteria of Workmanship for all processes involved.
  • Responsible for the engagement and development of production staff consistent with Orthene values and people processes.
  • Ensure all training records of the permanent and temporary staff meet Quality, Safety, international operating standards and HR requirements.
  • Maintain XL 800 data.
  • Ensure production equipment is maintained in line with the maintenance plans to reduce any unplanned downtime and to prolong the lifespan of equipment.
  • Manage the Production budget to include resourcing, machines and equipment upgrades, overtime etc.
  • Flexible to needs of a transforming operation.

Special Challenges

  • To be successful in the role the role holder will need to be skilled at managing and implementing operational change and embedding a high performing continuous improvement culture.
  • The production operations cover both processing and production line based and key to success will be ensuring the internal value-chain operates seamlessly.
  • This is a complex operation due to the requirement to produce unique blends for each customer to exceptional quality standards.
