Semi Senior Accountant

Key responsibilities of an Accountant will include:

  • Preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting schedules
  • preparation of corporation tax returns including capital allowances computations
  • bookkeeping
  • management accounting
  • assist in training junior staff and providing feedback
  • directly liaising with clients

About you:

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • confident with good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • have the ability to communicate with clients from a range of sectors
  • Xero certified
  • have the ability to deal with client queries relating to bookkeeping and VAT, as well as preparing statutory financial statements, supporting year end schedules and corporate tax returns
  • have the ability to understand the client's needs and can give clear and concise explanations in relation to queries
  • you must have a firm grasp of double entry bookkeeping and experience of maintaining bookkeeping records on Xero, QBO and Sage 50 Accounts including recording bank payments, receipts, bank reconciliation and recording sales and purchase ledger
  • you must have experience with transitioning clients across from Sage to the Xero Platform
  • experience with other applications is also a benefit, such as DEXT, Expensify etc
  • you must be willing and able to work under pressure and cope flexibly with demanding deadlines, and you work well as part of a team.
  • your analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to think laterally mean you are capable of identifying potential problems and providing solutions
  • you must show initiative, exercise judgement and take ownership of issues from start to finish

You must have experience in the following:

  • preparation of VAT Returns including sound knowledge of VAT legislation and VAT treatment
  • preparation of Statutory financial statements (CCH knowledge is preferred), monthly and quarterly management accounts for Partner/Client review
  • accounting for monthly adjustments (prepayments, accrued & deferred income and accruals) as part of preparing management accounts
  • broad understanding of PAYE and National Insurance
