We're looking for an experienced and technically capable Payroll Supervisor to join a small, friendly team based in Harrogate. You'll be working alongside a Payroll Assistant and will take the lead on overseeing and processing payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients.
The successful candidate will ideally bring prior experience from a bureau or client-facing payroll environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process a mix of weekly and monthly payrolls for approximately 52 clients, ranging from 1 to 85 employees.
- Ensure accurate and timely submissions for PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other statutory obligations.
- Utilise payroll software (BrightPay) and accounting systems (QuickBooks) for data input, reporting, and compliance.
- Provide excellent client service through accurate processing and effective communication.
- Liaise with directors and internal teams (accounting, audit, tax) as needed, with occasional administrative support tasks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience in payroll processing (end-to-end).
- Experience in a client or bureau payroll setting is desirable.
- High level of computer literacy and familiarity with payroll software (BrightPay experience is a plus).
- Ability to maintain accuracy and professionalism under pressure.
Team Structure
- You'll report directly to the firm's four directors.
- You'll work closely with a Payroll Assistant who has three years of experience in the role.
Start Date:
Ideally before or by 11th July, to allow for a smooth handover.
