Principal Engineer (Highway Development)

Location: Halton, Cheshire

Salary: £40,221 - £43,421 per annum

The Role

The Highway Development Team ensure the quality, safety and sustainability of the Highways and Transport infrastructure serving new developments.

As a Principal Engineer Highway Development, you will be required to oversee the effective delivery of the Council's highways and transportation development control statutory consultee role, highway asset management and other statutory Highway Authority functions. You will provide professional leadership, advice and guidance on a range of schemes, particularly those proposed by developers as part of the planning process.

Skills and Qualifications

  • You will have degree or equivalent experience in an engineering or transport related discipline, along with a detailed and up to date knowledge of appropriate legislation and design standards.
  • You will have the required skills to analyse developers' submissions, including transport assessments in detail, working with developers to achieve high standards of development, negotiate developer contributions and obligations to transport schemes, and protect the Council's interests.
