Job Description:

My client is a large manufacturing business, developing and producing Cosmetic, Nutritional, Pharma and Medical Device markets from three production sites and one logistics centre in the UK.

About the role:

This is a Managerial role, reporting to the Production Manager. You will be responsible for effective, safe operating, ownership and management of the Production department whilst on shift. Overseeing high speed multiple labour / automated lines in a 24/7 operation. Leading the Production team, providing priorities and guidance to the on-site support functions, you will be responsible for Health & Safety, Quality, Compliance and Production Output, ensuring effective achievement of Production schedules. You will actively target and implement improvements Safety and Quality standards as well as cost and target improvements. You will work to defined processes and procedures, and product specifications including to MHRA accredited standards as required in a fully auditable regulated industry, while ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety at Work and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) at all times. As a key member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for the mentoring and training of key Production staff, in order to deliver exceptional performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To take ownership and accountability for all Production operations within the Shifts, including support departments during hours of working. This includes making key decisions and being the senior on site out of hours.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work, HSE requirements, safe practices and adherence to Work Instructions (WIs) at all times. Safety First as a culture and mind-set.
  • Competent QMS knowledge (Q-Pulse, our quality system). Partner the Quality Team for investigation / resolution of Quality issues, be responsible for IR investigation, root cause analysis, including comprehensive and timely close out of IRs. Ensure that identified faults are reported and corrective action taken. Reduce or eliminate IRs through effective, competent and timely completion of sustainable CAPA implementation, maintaining / improving / exceeding a RFT target of + 98%. Ensure that all staff are aware of and follow required Packing specifications, Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. Quality Matters
  • Be responsible for continued adherence to GMP standards, ensure target of 95% on unannounced audits is maintained or exceeded.
  • Be flexible in providing leadership and support to attain high levels of Operational performance as required. Ensure that operations on all equipment are performed to a professional, high standard.
  • Liaise and work closely with Engineering Team to prioritise production planning. Ensure enablement of Production Preventative maintenance through coordination with the Facilities and Maintenance teams.
  • Liaise closely with Supply Chain Management to ensure Production schedules are achieved and eliminate delays. Ensure output delivery RFT / OTIF and maintain / achieve / exceed target of 97% by understanding and managing waste reconciliation and stock accountability throughout the Production process.
  • Coach, develop, mentor and support your Production Team. Implement succession planning and a strong, competent key staff team around you. Work closely with Training Department to maintain Production Profile training target of over 95%.
  • Identify development opportunities for Production line staff in the achievement of Quality Standards and required target outputs
  • Identify bottlenecks and limiting factors, and work cross-departmentally to resolve and eliminate issues. Engage with Production teams using Gemba Solutions to implement change and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure major issues are escalated in line with the agreed processes.
  • Liaise and work closely as part of a team in conjunction with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Warehouse and Manufacturing departments to reduce line delays and reduce / eliminate non-value-added activity.
  • Be responsible for ensuring Stock and Waste accountability through RTS (Real Time Stock) transactions and completion of Production Work Orders through close liaison / management of Technical Operators and be able to demonstrate accountability of / report issues.
  • Ensure that all documentation is accurately maintained (ALCOA), and relevant information communicated as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for the crewing of Production lines in accordance with product standards and specifications to deliver the weekly plan.
  • Strong people skills, engaging and developing teams through value added PDRs and job chats, managing performance, absence and staff accountability through Tensor, and working closely with the HR department.
