Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our global client seeks a Company accountant to join their team on a permanent basis.
This job would suit a part or fully qualified accountant with at least 3 years' practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques, including accruals and prepayments. A fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the development and maintenance of financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with statutory requirements.
The company is a well-established business that specialises in delivering projects within Schools, Retail and Healthcare.
The successful individual will have an understanding of fixed assets and depreciation, with previous experience of CIS and VAT. They must have excellent client facing and internal communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Experience in Microsoft Office 365 and Xero is essential.
Job responsibilities:
- Assist the external accountant in the preparation of management accounts & year-end accounts.
- Preparation and submission of annual VAT & CIS Returns to ensure quality control.
- Assist the external accountant and Managing Director in the preparation of the annual budget and manage actual vs budget through all finance and accounting operations on an annual cycle to ensure the budget number for the year is not exceeded.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls,
- Manage all bookkeeping on Xero, including bank reconciliations, raising and sending of invoices and monitoring and reconciling all balance sheet accounts to ensure financial reporting meets regulatory requirements.
- Manage the flow of money between the company, its suppliers and clients through the governance of financial policies and processes to ensure payments are received on time in support of the income budget.
- Engage in discussions with the Managing Director to monitor and evaluate the company's financing options.
