Purchasing Assistant

A client of mine based in East Grinsted is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for liaising with suppliers, technical, and production staff to ensure the smooth operation of our procurement processes.

This role is integral to the management of inventory and the sourcing of materials, providing vital support across various departments.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Liaise with suppliers, technical, and production staff to ensure materials and sundry items are sourced and priced effectively.
  • Process, place, and progress orders for raw materials and other items required by the business.
  • Generate material requirements and assist in the management of inventory levels.
  • Assist in product costing and the provision of production information.
  • Maintain communication with our toolroom, managing customer tooling orders and trials.
  • Provide cover for other areas in the office, including sales administration, as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team and independently.
  • Experience in procurement, inventory management, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using office software for order processing and inventory management.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
