About the school:

This school is a unique and inclusive Alternate Provision Academy, who works with students aged 5-16 years who require a different approach to learning. They believe all of their students can achieve academically, and first of all work on building their self-esteem, capacity and confidence and to experience success when learning since they have forgotten what it feels like.

Their most recent Ofsted inspection in November 2023 rated them as ‘Good' and they continue to strive for even higher standards. They wrote:

‘The school is a calm and purposeful environment where every pupil is valued and respected. Relationships are warm and nurturing.'

Role overview:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to KS3 students.
  • Support students in developing core literacy skills and a love for reading and writing.
  • Work with small groups (6–8 students) in a nurturing, well-supported environment.
  • Use restorative practices to build positive relationships and manage behaviour.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including mentors, therapists, and support staff.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and personalised learning pathways.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (GCSE or equivalent)
  • A strong belief in inclusive education and the potential of every learner
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse needs, including SEMH and SEND
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and classroom management skills
  • A sense of humour, resilience, and a team-player mindset
