Location - Sutton

Salary: £11.44

Hours - Monday to Friday

Temporary role 1 week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to work for one of our clients, who is a medical facility based in Sutton.

In this role, you will be working full-time, temporarily, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities for the role of Catering Porter

  • Assist in the preparation of food items according to prescribed menus, recipes, and special dietary requirements. This may involve basic food handling, cutting, slicing, and portioning ingredients
  • Serve meals to patients, staff, and visitors following established portion control guidelines and sanitation standards. This may include operating food service equipment such as steamers, ovens, and serving carts
  • Assist in assembling trays for patient meal service, ensuring accuracy in meal selection and adherence to dietary restrictions. This may involve coordinating with dietary staff to accommodate special dietary needs
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food service areas, including kitchen facilities, dining areas, and equipment. This includes washing dishes, utensils, and equipment, as well as sanitizing food preparation surfaces
  • Assist in the receiving, storage, and rotation of food and supplies to ensure freshness and prevent waste. This may involve restocking inventory, checking expiration dates, and maintaining proper storage conditions
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to patients, staff, and visitors, addressing any questions or concerns related to meal service. This may involve communicating with patients regarding meal options and accommodating special requests
  • Adhere to food safety regulations, infection control protocols, and hospital policies and procedures. This includes following proper hand hygiene practices, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with other members of the dietary department, including cooks, dietitians, and food service supervisors, to ensure efficient and effective meal service delivery

Skills and Experience required for the role of Catering Porter

  • Must hold a current Standard DBS (or above)
  • Must hold current Food Hygiene and Food Allergen certificates
  • We must be able to obtain references covering 3 years
  • Must have previous experience within the Catering industry
  • Physical endurance to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy trays or equipment, and perform repetitive tasks associated with food preparation and service
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good customer service skills
  • Food Handling and preparation skills
  • The ability to communicate and collaborate with patients and other members of staff and visitors to the hospital
