Senior Building Asset Manager

Summary

We're looking for a Senior Building Asset Manager to join our high performing Central Buildings Team - helping to frame and implement the asset management strategy for our 28,000 asset built estate.

Working with Directors, key influencers and fellow professionals across the organisation on all aspects of construction consultancy, you'll contribute to the discussions around significance, conservation standards and adaptive re-use of buildings, play a key role in the Trust's national investment programmes, and be involved in the most high profile projects, undertaking the more complex negotiations, contractual challenges and dispute resolution work.

You'll help us in developing imaginative and innovative solutions to resourcing, sustainability and delivery challenges as we move into an ambitious and challenging new strategy period.

What it's like to work here

You'll be a highly respected professional advocate for the Trust externally, establishing credibility and influence as a leader in the sector, helping to promote our external reputation & establishing the National Trust as a leading Construction employer.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing This is a broad and far-reaching role. You'll be working with our Directors, other key individuals and fellow professionals across the organisation, on all aspects of construction consultancy relating to our built estate. Contributing to the discussions around significance, conservation standards and adaptive re-use of buildings, you'll play a key role in the Trust's national investment programmes and be involved in the most high-profile projects. You'll mentor and support our Buildings Professionals in all aspects of their work, leading on industry best practice as well as developing our professional cohort and Facilities Management staff. Who we're looking for

  • a proven construction or property professional and a full Member of either the RICS, CIOB, RIBA or ICE
  • significant experience as a Chartered Surveyor (any specialism), Architect or Engineer
  • direct and broad experience of creating and delivering strategic policy and managing multi-disciplinary projects across a number of sectors
  • innovation, entrepreneurial and business development skills with the ability to spot opportunities and provide creative solutions to tight timescales within limited budgets
  • proven skills in delivering, problem solving and organisational change within the construction/property sector
  • demonstrable ability to analyse, interpret and resolve challenging multi-faceted problems within or on behalf of a complex organisation
  • strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills, including external advocacy and networking with both professional and lay audiences
