Quality Technician

Quality Technician - (Huntingdon) - £26,000p.a. + benefits. Our Quality Technicians are a key part of the team, required oversee our quality control processes. You will be working as part of a team reviewing products and materials for industry compliance and assessing production procedures.

The Role

You will be critical in implementing preventative and corrective actions and promoting a culture of continuous improvement to ensure the highest customer satisfaction. The Quality technician will also review returned products as part of a cross-functional team, reporting results and offering recommendations to promote product improvement. To ensure success as a quality technician, you should possess in-depth knowledge of product standards and be capable in root cause investigation. An outstanding candidate will be someone whose quality assessment skills translate into products of exceptional quality. You may also need to train and support employees on quality standards.

Working Hours: This role is subject to seasonal working hours.

Normal hours - 7.00am-3.15 Monday to Thursday and 7.00- 12.30 Friday (34 weeks per year)

Peak trading weeks - 7.00am-5.00pm Monday - Thursday, 7.00am-12.30 Friday (9 weeks per year)

Lower trading weeks (over summer) 7.00am - 3.15 Monday to Wednesday, Thursday 7.00am - 12.30, No work on Fridays (9 weeks per year)

Key Responsibilities

  • Auditing of Raw materials and finished goods dependant on work area, to identify potential failures.
  • Using basic measurement instruments to determine whether materials meet acceptable tolerances.
  • Auditing processes through-out the business to ensure that they meet our quality standards and those of our external accreditors.
  • Generating Return to Supplier and Disposal notes as necessary.
  • Liaise with purchasing and supplier representatives concerning issues that may arise affecting product quality.
  • Generate non-conformance reports, initiating root cause analysis and follow through to closure.
  • Liaise with other departments, such as Production, Customer Services and NPI with recommendations and observations.
  • Calibrating basic measuring equipment and logging the results.
  • Use problem solving and IT skills to determine root cause analysis of production problems and supply supporting data for problem resolution.
  • Provide holiday/sickness cover for the QC team members.

The Skills

  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing factory environment essential
  • Previous audit experience essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Keen eye for detail & the ability to demonstrate technical competence when talking to external stakeholders
  • Moderate IT skills, knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Able to carry out manual lifting when needed
  • Motivated & enthusiastic with a will to learn all aspects of the quality role
