Research Economist

Are you passionate about financial reporting and eager to influence international standards? My Client is looking for a dedicated Research Economist to contribute to a pivotal project endorsing IFRS 18. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the future of financial reporting in the UK, working with industry leaders and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute surveys to companies and investors for cost/benefit analysis.
  • Engage with stakeholders through interviews and other methods to enhance survey data.
  • Support the economics team leader in data analysis and market-wide cost estimation.
  • Assist with creating econometric models and cost of capital models for endorsement criteria assessment.
  • Participate in estimating costs of non-adoption and direct benefits for users.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in economics or finance, or a relevant professional qualification in accounting.
  • Research experience in industry, consulting, government, NGOs, or academia.
  • Proficiency in conducting surveys and administering questionnaires.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of capital markets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet tight deadlines.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of UK capital markets.
  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews.
  • Report writing skills.

This is a 6 month fixed-term, full-time position based in our Central Birmingham office, with frequent travel to our London office.
