Package: £100 - 130k (including basic salary, car, bonus)
A unique opportunity to join this fast growing mid-sized freight forwarding business during an exciting period of expansion. This newly created role will lead a number of departments with direct management reports across the companies freight forwarding activities, predominantly focussed on ocean freight and customs services plus road freight and air freight.
This high-level role demands a strategic leader with a solid background in freight forwarding operations. The ideal candidate will have gained senior leadership experience in mid-sized freight businesses, or potentially be seeking a step-up from a senior management function of a large freight forwarding branch.
Duties:
- Provide visionary leadership and direction to the operations division, encompassing sea freight, airfreight, road freight, customs, procurement, and off-shoring
- Develop and execute comprehensive operational strategies that align with and support the company's overarching goals and objectives
- Financial Performance: Achieve agreed performance metrics, including GP, net contribution, and operational targets
- Leadership: Create a culture of continuous improvement while fostering a supportive and motivating atmosphere for employees
- Operational Efficiency: Streamline processes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency
- Resource Optimisation: Efficiently allocate manpower and resources to meet operational demands
- People management: Ensure that our people recruitment, management, development and retention is best in class
- Continuous Improvement: Enhance processes and performance through innovation and training
- Technology Adoption: Embrace technology to enhance capabilities and create a competitive advantage
- Off-shoring: To successfully implement off-shoring opportunities within operations, creating an effective relationship and review cycle with the business partners

- Customer Satisfaction: Deliver high-quality service and address customer needs promptly.
Required experience:
- Extensive experience in freight forwarding operations working for freight forwarders, including significant time in senior leadership roles
- Demonstrated expertise in managing sea freight, airfreight, road freight, customs, procurement, and off-shoring operations at a senior level
- Proven track record of delivering growth and enhancing performance in the general management of a freight forwarding and/or supply chain business
- Strong background in business development, organisational restructuring, and resource management and development
