About the role The Folk Hall is a thriving community venue, which has been central to the village of New Earswick as a meeting place and social centre for more than one hundred years. New Earswick Post Office is currently open 9am to 6pm Mon-Fri and 9am to 1:30pm on Saturdays.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small but extremely busy team contributing to the development of the Folk Hall as a community hub for New Earswick where people come to socialise, find things out and generally enrich their lives. New Earswick Explore, the public library, works in partnership with the Folk Hall team to provide community activities and events alongside its library and information service.

The Post Office is well-used within the community and during opening times is very busy, dealing with transactions and requests associated with this service. You will provide a full and supportive administration service that will contribute to the smooth running of the Folk Hall including, but not limited to, managing the bookings for formal meetings, celebratory events and community events, reception work, the Post Office Counter, and assisting the Folk Hall Managers and Supervisor with the day to day running of the venue and its programme of activities.

Experience of office based administrative processes and practices is essential in this role and if you can demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills along with a foundation of good customer service then this is the role for you.

About you The reception facility is central to the Folk Hall and the post holder will be responsible for being the first point of contact for customers, as well as organising and facilitating events, running reception and other general administration duties.

We are particularly interested in you if you have a flexible approach and a can-do attitude, willing to roll their sleeves up and assist where the need is greatest. Cash handling experience and dealing with customers in a retail setting are essential as is a resilience and ability to manage and prioritise a range of different tasks at any one time. Accuracy in cash handling and being numerate are also necessary.

Please note that this role will be subject to a DBS check as well as Post Office vetting which includes a credit check.
