We have an exciting opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Secondary School in Southwark, starting immediately.

**Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Southwark
Start Date: Immediate
Job Type: Full-time, Long-term (until the end of the academic year)
Pay Range: Competitive, based on experience

**Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work closely with students requiring additional support within the classroom. This is a full-time role, offering a long-term opportunity for the right candidate to make a meaningful contribution to our school community.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEND, ensuring they have access to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting learning activities to meet students' specific needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO and classroom teachers to develop strategies for supporting student progress.
  • Facilitate one-to-one and small group interventions to enhance learning and promote independence.
  • Support students with a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, and other learning or physical difficulties.
  • Help maintain a positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Monitor and track student progress, reporting on achievements and areas for development.

**Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or care-based setting.
  • Experience working with SEND students in a school environment is essential.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEND and strategies to overcome them.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one prior to starting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
