As a Project Engineer, you'll ensure community safety by leading gas network projects from planning to completion.

I help to keep people safe and warm by...

  • Undertaking project delivery from concept to commissioning and records completion
  • Planning projects, obtaining consents, and programming
  • Managing and delivering feasibility studies and conceptual designs
  • Technically coordinating and developing detailed designs
  • Supporting procurement activities to ensure compliance with regulations and program requirements
  • Supervising and monitoring construction activities on site
  • Ensuring compliance with strict health, safety, environment, and quality procedures
  • Commissioning all aspects of gas network construction projects
  • Managing projects to meet program and budget constraints
  • Coordinating project-related activities and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing project documentation and drawings
  • Implementing the SGN safety culture throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensuring projects comply with SGN and/or industry policies and procedures

As a Project Engineer / Officer you will join a team of experienced engineers and project managers and be developed in the role. This will be supported by line managers and mentors following a training and development plan with potential to progress further.

What you'll need

  • A recognised engineering qualification and experience of working in an engineering, construction or gas / petro-chemical environment.
  • Construction and/or project management experience working on UK Gas distribution/transmission networks is desirable.
  • Educated to degree or HNC/D level in mechanical / civil engineering or a similar related discipline.
  • Computer literacy, experience of general Microsoft Office software, CAD and engineering related applications.
  • Ability to read, review, understand and also create / compile technical reports.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills are essential to this role.
