Head of Human Resources & Payroll

Fixed Term Contract - 12 months

Full Time - 37.5 hours

Home based working with some occasional travel to HO in Liverpool

Medlock Partners have partnered with a Health and Social Care provider to help them appoint a Head of HR & Payroll for a minimum 12-month fixed term contract.

Reporting directly into the Chief People Officer and managing a team of HR, Recruitment & Payroll professionals you and your colleagues will support the development and delivery of a professional and responsive operational HR service.

This exciting opportunity will play a pivotal role in helping the organisation deliver strategic objectives that align to the overall business objectives which in turn helps the charity provide first class care to positively enhance people's lives.

Key responsibilities of the Head of HR:

  • Directly responsible for a team of HR Managers, covering the following areas HR Business Partnering, Payroll, Operational HR, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Employee Experience and HR systems.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of the HR and OD Strategy and leading HR and /or Payroll software development and integration.
  • To work closely with Head of Learning & Organisational Development to support the development and delivery of people related strategies and interventions.
  • To provide effective leadership of the HR team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, professional, and responsive HR service.
  • To define and deliver our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, and the ambition of creating a vibrant, inclusive culture.
  • To manage financial resources and budgets for projects.
  • To establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team, systems, and processes.
  • To continually review, develop and promote my client's Employee Value Offer.
  • To ensure that robust processes are in place to manage disciplinary and grievance issues effectively, seeking to reduce the risk of Employment Tribunal or other employment related claims.
  • Ensure effective employee relations by maintaining a partnership relationship with recognised trade union(s) and established staff forum/networks.
  • To lead and develop projects that will support future organisational growth and develops best practice.

Key requirements for the Head of HR:

  • You will have extensive senior HR experience working at a similar level and managing and leading multiple HR professionals/Teams as well as experience of managing an in-house payroll function
  • Your HR background will reflect true HR generalist experience with mix of both Strategic and Operational HR.
  • You will have working knowledge of TUPE regulations and the integration of transferred employees.
  • Ideally you will be a Chartered member of CIPD or working towards this.
  • It would be highly desirable for you to have gained previous experience working for a similar Health and or Social Care provider or similar and have gained exposure to CQC regulations and requirements, or having experience working in an unionised environment, however this is not essential to be considered for this opportunity.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
