Hire Manager

Our client, a leading company in the pump manufacturing and rental solutions sector, is currently seeking a Hire Manager to join their team at the Chandlers Ford branch. This permanent role is within the Pump Rental Solutions department, focusing on ensuring seamless customer hire operations and leading the Hire team to meet profit and team targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all aspects of safety and security of branch assets, including people, vehicles, property, pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Ensuring pricing parameters are adhered to and policies are followed for both the business and customers.
  • Setting up new customer accounts following Credit Control procedures and managing accounts on stop.
  • Managing efficient use of transport with the hub to ensure on-time delivery and clear communication.
  • Controlling transport costs and managing damages and losses, keeping reports updated.
  • Utilising strong communication skills for local and general business-related matters, including toolbox talks.
  • Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours regulations and tachograph requirements.
  • Liaising with the Branch Manager regarding financial aspects of the branch including month-end routines and management of debtor queries.
  • Managing customer interface including key accounts to maximise opportunities when liaising with customers.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a supervisory role within a pump rental business (or similar environment).
  • Demonstrable experience of running a busy hire desk in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in logistics, construction or water utilities is beneficial.
  • Experience working with different software packages and rental systems.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, with the ability to re-prioritise tasks at short notice.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to multiple queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with Hire and Branch teams under pressure.
  • Negotiation skills and confident in using product knowledge to encourage unplanned sales.
  • An in-depth knowledge of all types of pumps and solutions is advantageous (but not essential).
  • Full UK driving license with less than 6 points.
