The Opportunity

I am delighted to be working with an award winning, national software product business who have developed a suite of products used by a global customer base. With an excellent company culture they are seeking an experienced Head of PMO to lead their Project Management Office. Reporting to the Director of Technology & Engineering, you will be a key player in our Technology & Engineering Leadership Team and a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will ideally have experience of working within a SaaS environment.

Key Accountabilities

Your mission will be to provide strong leadership, driving the project management team to new heights of quality and efficiency. You'll be responsible for overseeing project management methodology, ensuring successful execution of client-facing, revenue-generating projects. Your role will be pivotal in developing talent, maintaining high standards of project execution, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement whilst managing a team of 3 Project Managers & a Compliance Manager.

  • Strategic Leadership: Create and maintain an inspirational strategy for the PMO team, ensuring projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Project Management: Oversee the full project management lifecycle, ensuring high-quality outputs and adherence to budget, time, and scope.
  • Team Development: Lead and coach a team of Project Management Specialists, fostering accountability, ownership, and continuous development.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage risks and issues across projects, ensuring effective resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with QA, Engineering teams, and the Corporate PMO to deliver efficient project management strategies and plans.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by analyzing project data, tracking trends, and implementing best practices across the PMO team.

Person Spec

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on building high-performing teams.
  • Clear and inspirational communicator, able to drive and deliver through teams.
  • Extensive experience in project, programme, and portfolio management, with a strong grasp of Agile principles.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects and programmes.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools like Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheets.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong client-facing experience and the ability to create comprehensive management reports for senior stakeholders.
